5 TOP TIPS FOR WORKING WITH A VOICE ACTOR

1.Communication- Now as voice actors, we are born to communicate. We love to chat, we love to talk, we love conversation, we love answering questions, we love getting questions. So never feel afraid to ask as many as you like. Its your budget, its your project and we’re here to elevate it and make it the best that it can be.

2. Not 100% sure? Request a free demo. There’s no problem with asking for an audition or a free demo of your script, maybe even just 10 or 15 seconds so you can get a real idea of their tone, their pace and their delivery and that will fill you with confidence that the final outcome is going to be exactly what you’re looking for.

3. Be clear on your brief. Sometimes saying that you want a ‘friendly upbeat’ voice is great, but its not specific enough, there is a whole range of ‘friendly upbeat’ voices, so the more details that you can give the voice actor, the better, in regards to setting, style, pace, target audience, name of the project…you name it, it all helps!

4. Home Studios. If you’d like your voice talent to use their home studio but you’re a little unsure of the spec, what the audio quality is going to be like, how it all sounds, then again, just ask for a free demo. Any high profile voice actor working from their own broadcast quality home studio, will be more than happy to provide this for you.

5. Just come and say Hi! You’re under no obligation to hire us just because you’ve sent us an email or an enquiry, or even requested a free 15 second demo. You have to find the right voice to fit your project and we’re just here to try and make it happen for you and if we can’t, many of us voice over artists are often recommending each other, so maybe we could help you in that way as well.
