Hi, and welcome to my little corner of the internet! I’m Karis Pentecost, and I’m genuinely so glad you’ve found your way here. I've been promising myself I'd start writing for well over a year now and I've FINALLY got my butt in gear to actually do it.

ree

I’ve been working as a professional voice actor for 15years now, lending my voice to commercials, documentaries, eLearning, animation, brand films —you name it. Over time, I've learned that this job is about so much more than just “having a nice voice.” It’s about connection, storytelling, emotion, timing, and trust. And while I absolutely love what I do, the voice over world (like any creative industry) isn’t always sunshine and smooth takes.

That’s really what this blog is all about.

So I’m starting this space for a few reasons:

To Share What I’ve Learned (And What I’m Still Learning)

Voice over is a craft—and one I’m still mastering every single day. Whether it’s navigating tricky scripts, improving my studio setup, managing client relationships, or simply figuring out how to stay creative in a high-demand environment, there’s always something new to tackle. I’ll be using this blog to share tips, behind-the-scenes insights, and practical advice that I hope will help both clients and fellow voice artists alike.

To Help Clients Get the Best Experience Possible

If you’re a brand, creative agency, or content producer looking to book a voice actor (maybe even me!), this blog is a resource for you too. I’ll be talking about what makes a great VO session, how to write scripts that shine, the benefits of live-directed sessions, and how to get the most from your talent. Working with a voice actor should be a fun, collaborative process—and I want to make sure you feel confident and supported every step of the way.

To Support New Voice Actors

When I first started out, I remember feeling totally overwhelmed. There’s no handbook that neatly outlines how to break into this industry, what gear to buy, how to find clients, or how to price your work with confidence. I’ll be sharing honest advice, real experiences (the good, the bad, and the slightly awkward), and encouragement for those who are just stepping into the booth for the first time.

To Vent (Just a Little!)

Let’s be real—sometimes this industry can be tough. From lowball job offers to last-minute script changes, from AI voice clones creeping into our space to the all-too-familiar “can you do that one more time, just... different?” direction, there’s plenty to talk about. I promise to keep it professional (mostly), but I also think it’s important to have honest conversations about what’s really happening in our corner of the creative world.

Because I Love Storytelling

Above all else, I’m here because I love stories. Telling them, listening to them, shaping them with breath, pause, rhythm, and tone—it’s what fuels me. Whether it’s a two-minute brand spot or a full-length audiobook, the magic of storytelling never gets old. This blog is a place where I get to explore that love in all its forms—and hopefully inspire you to see the power in your own voice, too.

So, whether you’re a fellow VO pro, a producer looking to cast a project, or just someone curious about what actually goes on behind the mic, you’re welcome here.

Thanks for reading, and stay tuned—there’s so much I want to share.

Got questions, ideas, or topics you'd love to hear more about? Drop them in the comments or send me a message. Let’s make this space a conversation, not just a monologue.

Here’s to voice, creativity, and all the beautiful (and sometimes chaotic) stories that come with it.
